Waterlogged
My bones are waterlogged
As I sink in emerald pools
Dragged down by clawed hands
Ankles bound by iron bands
Chains bind me to the depths
I fight but I won’t float
My heart is much too heavy
Scarred over and encrust
With sea salt and red rust
If I only I could gouge it out
My soul dissolving into the deep
Become one with the darkness
The currents spread scraps of me
The farthest corners of the cold sea
I am everywhere and no one
I see your shadow cast long
Across the stillness of a new pond
Tears causing ripples to spread
Your eyes and lips so, so red
Please dry your eyes my dear
